Bedtime Ritual

I first conceived of this painting when I saw an old black and white photograph in a 1960’s magazine…the girls were sitting on a bed in the midst of what appeared to be a slumber party with other children in the background.  Even though it was in black and white, I could envision the warm coloring that this evening light would evoke.  I initially called the painting “Sisters” but so many people had differing opinions about if it were sisters, or mother/daughter, or friends that I finally named it “Bedtime Ritual”.  The painting is done in oils and framed in an ornate gold frame with black velvet liner.
