Golden Mantle Ground Squirrel This small scratchboard is a good example of the way watercolors can enhance the myriad strokes it takes to give the illusion of fur. After scratching the entire subject, I then watercolored in the lights and darks and then scratched out the highlights again…basically painting this picture three times to get the effect I wished.
